Thanks for taking the time to make such an informative video. Your tip on how you set your action by whether you can get a clean slide sound on the G string is a good one. Couple of questions regarding strings. When you say 12s, do you mean 12 to 52? And what about the G string… is it 24 wound or are you substituting an unwound string, and if so what gauge? Thanks!

Hi Ramon, I admire your talent and brave curiousity to tackle this unusual instrument. I acquired one several years ago, and I am working with a luthier to convert it by adding tuners and a pickup. Will you share with me the string gauges of the 5 strings? I am trying to sort this out with charango, timple and classical guitar nylon strings.

the notch in some Tele bridge plates is done for reasons of comfort. Danny Gatton (R.I.P.) modified his Tele for that reason...

I e used an SRV pedal for my Dumble/Princeton pushed Bassman tones for 12 years, simply awesome but got unreliable lately so bought a Simble during COVID lockdown The simble is very versatile ( Markov video) Obviously the SRV is a dual pedal so I thought I'd use a comp in front, my old Analogman Juicer takes it up a huge level. Now the SRV is only used at home...

When i heard the guitar, I could easily recognize the muffled Jim Hall D'aquisto sound. I'm not found of it, but George Benson sure turned it into magic. I instead like carved tops despite the hurdles of capturing their beautiful tones outside a recording studio. Anyway, i found an acoustic carved top D'Angelico copy I could afford. The neck has sky slope issue i have to get fixed. It has a brighter sound with less midtones than a vintage L5 which i have to work around. It seems to fit my acoustic fingerstyle better than an electric because it captures the subtleties of my picking and note bending so I can mix blue grass and acoustic jazz. Anyway, the songs from the era of jazz guitar you played sound fantastic without how i usually hear them all smothered in reverb, which I hate. So I think I will check them out to see if I can blend that sort of stuff into my acoustic jazzbilly mix. I particularly like those rhythmic George Benson strums.

Lovely smooth transition on the back of the neck,...I know Nev from guitarist magazine is obsessed with this feature but I must agree with him; Many "historically accurate" fenders and even custom shop necks look like they have come straight from the mill/CNC machine. ...Just like a $5000 Novo Guitar,😂, the back of their necks around the volute area a sharper than a Yamaha Pacifica 012 (no offence Yamaha:), quite literally no rounding off.
